On 21 February 2024, Barnes Aerospace is thrilled to unveil a new component repair facility in Singapore. This new 2400 square metre facility will increase Barnes Aerospace’s component repair capacity in supporting customers’ needs in the region, as well as its current Singapore facility footprint by approximately 50%.

In addition to the current MRO and manufacturing facilities at Loyang and Changi North Crescent respectively, the new facility represents a substantial investment in enhancing Barnes Aerospace’s capabilities and expanding its existing manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) presence in Singapore. Strategically located in Singapore’s thriving aerospace hub, JTC’s Seletar Aerospace Park, the additional working space, capital improvements and new equipment will also support aerospace engine casing, knife edge seals and honeycomb repairs, with additional space for growth in future.

Ms Lim Ai Ting, Director for Aerospace & Marine Cluster, JTC, said, “Adding to the established base of MRO players in Seletar Aerospace Park, Barnes Aerospace’s expansion is another milestone for us as it not only increases MRO capacities, but it also reinforces our position as the leading MRO hub in the region. We remain dedicated to supporting the success and growth of businesses, bolstering our vibrant aerospace ecosystem in Singapore.”

To facilitate the expansion, Barnes Aerospace also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).

“We welcome the expansion by Barnes Aerospace, which further solidifies Singapore as a global node for aerospace manufacturing as well as maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). Our aerospace industry is experiencing strong growth as companies expand their operations here to support the recovery in air travel. EDB will continue to partner with aerospace companies on their growth plans to create good job opportunities for Singaporeans.” said Cindy Koh, Executive Vice President of EDB.

“We are excited to add capacity to help address critical capacity bottlenecks for our loyal customers amid the resurgence of commercial flight demand,” said Ian Reason, Senior Vice President, Barnes and President, Barnes Aerospace. “Our presence in Singapore will continue to foster collaboration among Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and signify our long-term vision for the Asia-Pacific region. We’re committed to building a robust infrastructure and a talented workforce to support the thriving aerospace industry.”
