Aviation and Aerospace Industry Visits

The programme began in Frankfurt when students visited the House of Logistics and Mobility, or HOLM Facility. At the facility, they learned about Germany’s existing aviation sustainability efforts and ongoing initiatives. Additionally, participants had the exceptional chance to meet ERAU Frankfurt Associate Campus Director, Antje Peter. During the visit, a fun surprise was revealed: the HOLM building, where ERAU worldwide students from all across Europe graduate, actually houses ERAU’s Frankfurt headquarters too.

Later that day, the group visited the headquarters of Discover Airlines, a German leisure carrier. The visit provided students with insights into airline operations and route planning in the European market. Representatives from Discover Airlines gave an overview of their unique business model, followed by an engaging discussion with students on post-pandemic trends and challenges in the aviation industry.

The programme continued with a trip to Hamburg to visit the Airbus facility, one of the key highlights of the trip. The visit began with a private meeting where Airbus staff gave exclusive presentations about aircraft production, innovation and sustainability projects. The session was followed by an extensive three-hour guided tour of the Airbus assembly lines. Due to strict security regulations, photography and videography were not allowed within the premises, but the experience left a lasting impression on the students.

Cultural Exploration and International Exposure

Beyond technical visits, the trip also aimed to develop students’ cultural awareness and global mindset. Participants explored historic cities such as Frankfurt and Hamburg, visiting iconic landmarks, museums and local institutions. These experiences not only deepened the students’ appreciation for Germany’s rich history and contributions to aviation but also fostered cross cultural exchange and understanding.

This trip helped students understand how aerospace companies in Europe operate and the innovations they are working on. The journey to Germany has also inspired us to think globally about our future careers in aviation.

Embry-Riddle Asia continues to champion overseas learning journeys that combine industry engagement with cultural immersion. The Germany Enrichment Programme exemplifies the university’s mission to nurture global-ready aviation professionals equipped with the knowledge, skills and experiences to thrive in an international environment.
