GE Aerospace Enhances Engine MRO Capabilities in Singapore with US$300M Investment and New Module Repair Facility

  • 20 Feb 2026

GE Aerospace announced a multi-year investment plan of up to US$300 million to expand its engine repair capabilities in Singapore on 3 February at the Singapore Airshow 2026.

Supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), the investment will enhance engine repair operations by enabling faster turnaround times and improved connectivity. The partnership with Singapore EDB also introduces AI-enabled inspection, predictive maintenance, and automated repair to elevate customer experience. Key elements of this five-year plan, from 2025 to 2029, include advanced automation, digitisation, and AI-enabled inspection technologies.

Mr Mohamed Ali, President & CEO of Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace, commented on GE Aerospace’s partnership with Singapore EDB. “This thriving partnership, and our new $300 million investment, will usher in breakthrough capabilities to improve Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul services that keep our customers flying.”

Mr Iain Rodger, Managing Director, GE Aerospace Component Repair Singapore, said the investment plan will support “new technologies and repair processes”, utilising “FLIGHT DECK fundamentals to enhance SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost)” for its customers.

With predictive maintenance and automated digital inspection, repairs become more predictable in time and cost, improving safety, durability, efficiency, and expense outcomes,” Iain added.

EDB and GE Aerospace also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining their intent to begin discussions on developing advanced repair capabilities in Singapore.

Ms Cindy Koh, Executive Vice President at Singapore EDB said, “GE Aerospace’s latest investment reinforces Singapore’s position as a global leading aerospace hub.”

New changes and upgrades to equipment, methods, and facilities in Singapore include:

  • New advanced technology deployment and capabilities expansion
  • New Module Repair capability for CFM LEAP-1A/1B High-Pressure Turbines
  • Expanded engine component portfolio to enhance regional support as a Premier service center for APAC
  • Facility for REACH-compliant coatings as well as Anti-Corrosion Coating Repair capabilities
  • An AI Center of Excellence to develop MRO and On-Wing Support services through a data fabric ecosystem, Automated Digital Inspection, and Predictive Maintenance solutions.

“This partnership will introduce advanced technologies and new repair capabilities to our advanced manufacturing ecosystem and create exciting jobs for our workforce,” Cindy added.

As part of the new investment and its MRO capabilities expansion, GE Aerospace also held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new module repair facility at Seletar Aerospace Park on 4th February, in partnership with JTC Corporation and Singapore EDB. The new facility will support the growth of dedicated CFM LEAP-1A/1B High-Pressure Turbine (HPT) module repairs, further enhancing GE Aerospace’s in-region MRO capabilities to support customers across Asia Pacific and the Middle East.

Mr Tim McQueen, Executive Director at GE Aerospace, highlighted the expansion at Seletar Aerospace Park as a commitment to building in-region MRO capabilities, reducing turnaround time, and enhancing connectivity in APAC and the Middle East.

“By adding module repair capability in Singapore, we are able to execute more module repairs closer to operators, thereby improving material and engine flow, and provide more predictable support for the LEAP fleet. This also reinforces Singapore’s role as a key location within GE Aerospace’s global MRO network,” Tim added.

Mr Zheng Jingxin, Vice President and Head, Mobility at EDB, said: “GE Aerospace’s new engine module repair facility reflects Singapore’s continued attractiveness as a trusted and reliable hub for aerospace operations across Asia Pacific and the Middle East. This latest investment adds advanced capabilities to our ecosystem amidst growing demand for MRO services, and will strengthen Singapore’s relevance and position as a critical node in the regional aerospace supply chain.”
