Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, has unveiled plans for a significant expansion of its Singapore engine centre, Eagle Services Asia (ESA). The expansion, encompassing 48,000 square feet, is poised to boost ESA’s capacity by two-thirds and enhance Pratt & Whitney’s global support for the Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine fleet.
Shangari Meleschi, Vice President, Aftermarket Operations – Asia Pacific and Turkiye, Pratt & Whitney, emphasised the significance of this expansion, stating, “Pratt & Whitney is investing globally to support the GTF fleet. As part of the expansion, we will increase staffing and provide extensive staff training so that we are well-equipped to meet the increased demand. We are dedicated to maintaining our customers’ trust as we work through the impacts of the GTF fleet management plan.”
Eagle Services Asia (ESA) marked a significant milestone in 2019 when it inducted its first PW1100G-JM engine for overhaul. A joint venture between SIA Engineering Company and Pratt & Whitney, ESA holds a prominent position within the Pratt & Whitney GTF™ MRO network.
Since its inception in 2019, the GTF MRO network has experienced remarkable growth, more than doubling in size. Presently, there are 13 active GTF MRO engine centres worldwide, and an additional six are slated to go online by 2025. This expansive network forms an integral part of Pratt & Whitney EngineWise® solutions, offering engine operators a diverse range of aftermarket services aimed at delivering long-term, sustainable value.
The increased ESA facility size will not only cater to higher demand but also incorporate a substantial increase in staffing, coupled with comprehensive staff training, to ensure ESA is fully equipped to meet the escalating requirements.
The transformative expansion journey and increased capabilities and support for the GTF engine fleet are expected to further solidify Pratt & Whitney’s place as a leading provider of innovative aerospace and engine solutions.
