A Growing Market for Business Aviation in Asia Pacific

Business Aviation is a barometer of business activities, economic growth and the rise in the number of high net worth individuals.

According to the Aviation Week Intelligence Network, business jet flight hours have increased by 41% after the pandemic, as compared to 2019 levels. Asia Pacific is now the world’s third-largest market for business aviation, with around 1,600 aircraft in operation. By 2034, this number is projected to surpass 1,900 in the region, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.1%, well above the global average of 1.4%.

The region’s business aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector is also projected to grow at a faster pace as compared to the rest of the world. The Aviation Week Intelligence Network predicts that from 2025 to 2034, the MRO sector for business aviation in Asia Pacific will see a CAGR of 4.1%, in comparison to the global average of 3.2%.

In 2023, the dynamic Southeast Asia region attracted 17% (a record US$230 billion) of global foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows. Singapore, in particular, attracted the majority of this FDI and recorded a growing number of regional offices. Single family offices are also on the rise, with 400 receiving incentives in 2020 and 2,000 setting up here in 2024. This all correlated with an estimated increase to 90 business jets based at Singapore’s Seletar Airport in 2024.

With Southeast Asia well-positioned to become a dynamic hub for business aviation, AAIS is proud to support BAAFEx 2025 as a supporting association. We look forward to contributing to the sustainable growth of the sector in Singapore and the wider region.
